On Call Science Instructor, 2009
PDF download

Youth Science Institute (YSI) is a nonprofit Silicon Valley leader in hands-on science education. We partner with nature to teach science to 30,000 pre-school through 12th grade students annually. YSI school programs, after-school programs, and summer camps bridge today’s critical science education gap to inspire enthusiasm for science and a love of learning. At YSI, children develop the critical thinking skills necessary for academic success, and forge connections with nature that foster personal vitality and stewardship.

YSI’s programs cover a variety of topics and take on a variety of forms - from nature hikes on our local trails, to making lots of noise in a study of the physics of sound, to indoor live animal programs where students get to touch snakes, turtles, and more.  YSI programs are hands-on, experiential, and inquiry based.

Programs are taught at public and private schools, and at our three Santa Clara Valley nature centers – Alum Rock Park in San Jose, Sanborn County Park in Saratoga, and Vasona County Park in Los Gatos.
